Zapata, TX – Guns and Drugs Found, Arrests Made

Two male subjects were arrested and transported to the Zapata County Regional Jail for processing, identified as Jonathan Cruz-Rodriguez and Jose Guadalupe Hernandez-Gonzalez.

On September 14, 2016, the Zapata County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and Investigators assigned to the Laredo HSI/HIDTA Task Force, US Border Patrol Agents arrested 2 male subjects after 14 bundles of marijuana were discovered inside a mobile home’s closet at the 900 block on Villa Ave. After receiving consent to search the property and residence, The Deputies along with Investigators discovered fourteen bundles of marijuana totaling 319.7 Lbs. inside the residence.




Investigators secured a Nissan Armada and found an AR-15 rifle and a black tactical vest holding four magazines loaded with .223 caliber rounds inside the Armada. A male subject (Jose Guadalupe Hernandez-Gonzalez) was seen exiting the Armada upon Investigators approaching the property. A second AR-15 rifle was found on the ground along with another black tactical vest holding five magazines loaded with .223 caliber rounds as well.
Two male subjects were arrested and transported to the Zapata County Regional Jail for processing, identified as Jonathan Cruz-Rodriguez and Jose Guadalupe Hernandez-Gonzalez.
Cruz and Hernandez were charged for Possession of Marijuana, a Felony 2. This case is currently under state prosecution pending approval for federal prosecution from U.S. Attorney’s Office. Garcia is pending federal charges for a felon in possession of a firearm. More…
