Zapata residents need to be aware that there are fraudulent calls being made by individuals posing as IRS agents. Do not respond to these calls, which often threaten “law suit”. Report them to the Sheriff’s Department. These calls may have 323 area code. The phone number may be “spoofed” or disguised to conceal the true origin of the call.

Walking is a popular and inexpensive way to exercise. Focus is usually on footwear and clothing. Where and how to walk safely should be a number one priority. I mention this because recently I came upon three ladies walking on a two-lane county road – three abreast. Only one of the ladies felt she should get out of the road, the other two did not budge. Not only is this dangerous, but it is inconsiderate. Near where they were walking is the old air strip, which is not supposed to have traffic, making it a more safe place to walk. There are several walk tracks around town, check them out. Be a safe, responsible walker, enjoy our Zapata sites and air!

In a hurry and do not have time to wash your hair? Try this quick hair care tip – put a clean old nylon stocking around your brush; brush vigorously (rotating the nylon often). This trick removes oil and dust giving you a fresh feeling! A thick bath towel rubbed briskly is another way to spruce up your hair when time is short.

Until next time, keep smiling, smiles are contagious!
