Jeeter Ranch Tidbits | By Joyce Currington | March 7, 2017
The 2017 Zapata County Fair Trail Ride was a wet one. One rider from Devine demonstrated that fact by pouring about 2 cups of water out of his boot. This was a collection from a chilly 15 mile ride from Bustamante on Highway 16 to the Zapata Fair Grounds. It was a cold wet group of riders that gathered at the covered bandstand.
While they were making their way along Highway 16, tents and barbeque pits were set up at the adjoining park and 13 teams were vying for top cook and the coveted championship buckles donated by Blue Stone Natural Resources. Top winners were GTF Oil and Gas Energy Services, Rose Garden’s Pit Crew and Smokin’ D’s.
Blue Stone Natural Resources sponsored the Trail Ride and the Cook Off.
The scheduled Roping was cancelled due to the deluge.
